Pain is serious and is often what prompts people to visit our practice. Locally, people seek a chiropractor in Eugene for relief, and fail to realize that pain is rarely their problem! Naturally, if you are experiencing pain, you want it to go away. Dr. Casey Ferguson DC and Dr Jesse Lensegrav DC your Eugene chiropractor will treat you with compassion, but is more interested in correcting the cause of your pain.
All too often people first seek care from a chiropractor because they are in pain and their traditional methods of mediating their pain (meds) have failed. In the first phase of care, the primary goal is to reduce your pain symptoms. Sometimes this will require daily visits, or two to three visits per week for a short time.
Most people are under the assumption that if they don't feel any pain they are healthy. Pain is a very poor indicator of health, and in fact, pain and other symptoms frequently only appear after a disease or other condition has become advanced.
For example, consider a cavity in your tooth. Does it hurt when it first develops or only after it has become serious? How about heart disease? Regardless of whether you are talking about cancer, heart disease, diabetes, stress or problems with the spine, pain is usually the last thing to appear. When you begin chiropractic care, pain is also the first symptom to disappear, even though much of the underlying condition remains.
Dr. Casey Ferguson DC has obtained the postgraduate designation of Certified Chiropractic Sports Physician® (CCSP®) by the American Chiropractic Board of Sports Physicians™ (ACBSP™). The CCSP® certification requires the doctor to attend a minimum of 100 hours of a 120 hour postgraduate program. This instruction is specific to physical fitness and the evaluation and treatment of injuries encountered in sports. Following the completion of these hours, the doctor must then take and successfully pass a comprehensive written examination.
This training will aid the doctor in the prevention and treatment of athletic injuries by enhancing his diagnostic skills and patient care. The CCSP® certification exists to provide a uniform standard of education that assures teams and athletes that the doctor has met a minimum level of competency in chiropractic sports medicine. Dr. Ferguson DC joins over 5500 others internationally who hold this designation.
